Dating dos and donts instructional film
Awfully conservative (none of Woody's dating options are black, Asian or in any other way different from the WASP norms of the time), but its corniness makes it good for a laugh.
The film then shows three options, for each opportunity, ending with what it deems the most successful.
WOODRUFF Dorothy Day This film, which I've seen DOZENS of times (literally..) is SO great. When Woody takes Ayyy-unn to the fair, when Woody is chewing away on his hot dogs, yet Ayyyyy-unn takes just a gingerly nibble?
And what DOES Woody say to his mom to see if dinner is ready yet? A rundown of how to ask for a date and how to dress (as if for a job interview even though you're going to some fair in a school gym). Our young dater skipped the french kiss at the front door.heck, from the sounds of it they were apparently playing hopscotch just the week before.
As Woody prepares for his date, his mother and father reflect on their own first dates to remind Woody how important it is for him to show up on time.
His mother adds that any girl who is not ready for him on time is not worthy of going out with “my boy.”The film ends with Woody leaving the door outside Anne’s home, whistling happily as he contemplates his next date…Dating is a form of courtship consisting of social activities done by two people with the aim of each assessing the other’s suitability as a partner in an intimate relationship or as a spouse.
Instead he should ask a girl who is “fun.” He is similarly told to be straightforward and not to insist that his potential date give up some other activity for him.
